Homemade for the Homeless

Our world is filled with homelessness and so many people who lack basic human needs. We have a duty as followers of Jesus Christ to love and provide care, compassion, and assistance to those who need it. God gives us all we have not just for our own sake, but for the sake of His will, Kingdom, plans, and creation. Let’s stand up together and help in the ways we can so that we can all create the world we wish to live in.

34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

How can we help others?

God has given us each skills, talents, funds, materials, and so much more that we should be prayerfully using for God’s purposes. God does not grant us all we have for our own sake alone, but to use it for the work He has assigned each of us to do for Him and His Kingdom.

What is it God has blessed you with that you could use to help others?

I have a passion for making things. I love to crochet, loom-knit, papercraft, design, cook, bake, and so much more. God has given me these abilities and I am always seeking how to use them in practical, helpful, and useful ways. I cook for my family and small group at church, make scarves and blankets as gifts, and handcraft cards for holidays – but there is so much more to be done with these skills. God has laid it on my heart to go beyond these things and to begin making things specifically for those who cannot provide for themselves, and who will never be able to repay me. God wants us to love others as He loves us, and by pouring love, prayers, time, and effort into something made with my own hands it can be a powerful reminder to someone that they are seen, they are loved, they matter, and these reminders are so seldom given to so many.

We are all God’s creations and we should see all other people as fellow creations of the same loving God. By caring for the least of these we are caring for the Lord Himself.

How can you contribute?

Help fund homemade warm gear for those living without permanent shelter.

A basic need for all people is shelter, but so many lack this need. They live in forests, on the streets, in shelters, and in other places outdoors and lack the ability to keep warm.

They also too often feel neglected, hopeless, abandoned, and unloved. We can help by giving them a thoughtful gift, handmade with love, prayers, and compassion just for them. Show the least of these that they are loved and cared about by God and others by funding the production of a special gift to keep them warm.

With every project, I will pray over the person who will receive the item and will give them directly to the people on the streets.

Donating directly helps us fund various expenses across our ministry, and helps us continue to provide Bible studies, free resources, and more.
